Scientific and workplace studies done all over the world continue to recognize the importance of Health, Wellness, Mindfulness, and Holistic practices in treatment centers, hospitals, and caregiving homes, including with Care Providers and their clients.
According to a paper published on the Institute of Noetic Science website, “Since its development as a therapy in Australia over 40,000 years ago, sound healing has been used to aid in the treatment of mental and physical illnesses and injuries.”
Heart disease, diabetes, addiction, and mental health issues have all been linked to stress and tension, and while meditation systems such as mindfulness-based meditation have shown a promise in inducing the relaxation response and helping alleviate anxiety and improve well-being - patients in hospitals and care homes may have a common complaint because of the time, patience, and discipline required to learn meditation.
Sound Healing on the other hand provides a form of relaxation and stress relief that does not require a steep learning curve or a great deal of discipline to utilize and could potentially be a huge benefit to human wellness and health.
According to a study published by the National Institute of Health, “Music effectively reduces anxiety for medical and surgical patients and often reduces surgical and chronic pain. [Also,] Providing music to caregivers may be a strategy to improve empathy, compassion, and care.”
In other words, music is not only good for patients; it’s good for those who care for them.
A study published in the Southern Medical Journal (2005) demonstrated the beneficial effects of music in hospital settings. Researchers reported that “For children and adults, music effectively reduces anxiety and improves mood for medical and surgical patients, and for patients in intensive care units.” Researchers also noted that ambient music increased empathy in caregivers without interfering with the technical aspects of treatment.
Meditation and Sound Healing training are now being embraced by hospitals and caregiving homes of all sizes and types, and not just larger hospitals; to improve the productivity, health, and wellness of all levels of care-givers as well as for the clients and patients under their care.
Adding sound healing meditations to your facility will be an investment that you will be so glad you made!
Details on Conducting a Sound Healing & Meditation Class
The program that I offer is designed to support and foster all of the above benefits through guided meditation, and sound healing for Care-Givers, Care-Providers, Doctors, and Associates of all levels.
The format will follow my visit to your hospital/care providing facility and explain the use of meditation and vibrational sound healing techniques to all participants, openly discuss any questions or misconceptions, and offer a guided 60-75 minute conscious relaxation, sound bath, and meditation experience.
In each session I create a healing sound bath and guided meditation experience. It is called a sound bath because it feels like the sounds are washing over your body. As participants lay down on yoga mats or sit in chairs with their eyes closed, I will play specific sound healing instruments that will help calm the mind chatter and relax the body. A sound bath helps to relieve stress, reduce pain, and calm the mind. Integrated with a combination of breathwork and guided meditations to offer maximum benefits.
The same format can be adopted for clients and patients who can comfortably lie on their beds, or sit wherever they are comfortable.
